For almost 6 weeks we have extremely hot weather in central Russian Region (Nizhniy Novgorod, Moscow, Samara, Voronezh and other). Every day the temperature is more than +35, sometimes +40. And of course no rains. We are not used to such weather – we don’t have air condition everywhere, many of our cars are without air condition. My car is like a sauna now – the average temperature inside it is near 60) I’m driving wearing a swimming suite and then get changed before getting out of it. The place called paradise is the office. Fresh conditioned air, no smoke. I think I’ll move to the office for a couple of weeks, till the end of this terrible summer.
Many small rivers and lakes have run dry. People try to spend all their free time near the rest of likes and rivers.
A huge disaster is forest fire. There are fires everywhere in Russia; we are losing our trees, our air. The villages are in fire, people have lost their houses, and there are many victims. Our city of Nizhny Novgorod is in smoke, many people are wearing face bandages to protect themselves. We are slowly (or may be not so slowly) getting poisoned by carbon oxide. Every hour we breathe is equal to one package of cigarettes we could smoke. And this is mortal to smoke 20 cigarettes per hour.
They show on TV that our government is doing a lot to stop this situation. But I personally don’t feel that something is getting better. I think it’s vital and necessary to ask for international help. If not, in some days massive cases of death from carbon oxide will take place.
